Lisbon´s Ultimate Open Air Cinema with CineSociety

I wouldn´t be a proper "Lisbon lifestyle blogger" if I didn´t tell you about one of this city´s coolest summer events you can attend - CineSociety´s open air cinemas. While we are regular guests to their events since last year, we just got a couple of free tickets to one of their screenings this week so we can tell you all about one of our favourite past time occupations. Struggling to find an appropriate intro for such an amazingly cool event, I found I loved their own description of what they do:

"Picture this, a group of friends lounging on deck chairs in one of Lisbon's most iconic spots. You're drinking chilled fizz, craft beers and watching a cult classic like Back to the Future. Behind the screen the skyline turns from dusk to night and the stars roll into the sky. We couldn't imagine a more magical evening!"

CineSociety is basically a group of really cool cinephiles who also love Portuguese rooftops on warm summer nights. They combined their love for movies with said love for rooftops and a passion for cocktails and started organising some very cool open air events (this year in collaboration with Mitsubishi Motors). They have two locations: the patch of green grass right next to Topo Chiado (overlooking the Mosteiro de Carmo, Castelo de São Jorge and the gorgeous Elevador de Santa Justa) and the rooftop of Hotel Baía Cascais (overlooking the breathtaking marina, palm trees included). While we love both locations and regularly attend events in both, the Topo Chiado one has our heart, not only because of the view but also because they are super dog friendly and Yoshi loves coming with us, sleeping on the cold grass while we enjoy some of our favourite movies (on Wednesday we watched BlackKklansman and next week we´re seeing 500 Days of Summer).

What you´ll find there besides really cool people and splendid views: comfy lounge chairs, fluffy blankets, sweet, salty and cinnamon popcorn, delicious cocktails and wine and a really chilled vibe. And so the sound around you doesn´t bother you (Topo can get a bit loud on some nights), you´ll be receiving your own headphones where you can blast the movie as loud as you want without missing a word of it. The staff speaks fluent English as for some of them it´s their native tongue and while you´ll find a lot of expats in the crowd, the events are quite popular amongst Portuguese people too. Oh, and did I mention the dogs?

So whether you want to go on a cool date night (like André, Yoshi and I went on), want to do something slightly different with your family (we took André´s grandma to Breakfast at Tiffany´s last year) or want to go crazy extravagant and rent CineSociety´s cinema for a private event, they can accommodate anything. Find our more about them on : https://www.cinesociety.pt/ or on their Facebook page. Tickets are 12€ and it´ll be the best 12€ you´ll invest this summer.

The end

Love,

C.
